Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion on Canadian Universities: Where do International Students Fit in?

This article examines how international students are, or are not, included in the equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) activities at two of Canada’s largest English-speaking universities: University Toronto British Columbia. Our findings point to notable similarities: first, while both institutions celebrated for their contributions campus diversity, there also concerns over increasing proportion from China. Secondly, we find that understandings EDI seem derived legal definitions discrimination. We argue largely overlooked existing organizational structures EDI, initiatives related should better reflect encompassing equity take into account needs experiences students.
